Dun Ġwann Galea
Dun Ġwann Galea twieled fis-26 ta’Frar 1937. Huwa ġie ordnat saċerdot fis-7 t’April 1962. Erba’ snin wara, igifieri fl-1966 ġie maħtur kappillan tal-parroċċa ta’ San Ġiljan – pożizzjoni li dam jokkupa ghal sittax il-sena sħaħ. Dun Ġwann fost affarijiet ohra, jibqa’ magħruf ghat-tkomplija tal-bini tal-knisja u ghas-suċċessi li kellu s-St Julians Choir.
Dun Ġwann dejjem kien involut f’ħidma ma taqta xejn u fil preżent huwa jmexxi iċ-ċentru ta’ edukazzjoni, rikreazzjoni u kultura religjuza jew ahjar l-Istitut Kattoliku li jinsab fil-Floriana. Il-lum l-Istitut Kattoliku, barra mill-Azzjoni Kattolika Maltija, li zammet is-Sede Centrali taghha fih, jospita wkoll diversi Movimenti ohra: il-Kummissjoni Kateketika Nazzjonali, il-Moviment ta’ Cana, l-Istitut ta’ Formazzjoni Pastorali, id-direzzjoni tal-Lehen is-Sewwa u l-Kummissjoni Kultura tal-Arcidjocesi. Fih isiru korsijiet fuq suggetti varji, tahdidiet u attivitajiet ohra, mhux biss mill-ghaqdiet residenti, imma anki minn gruppi u organizzazzjonijiet barranin, li jsibu l-facilitajiet li joffri l-Istitut Kattoliku komdi ghall-htigijiet taghhom.

Fr. John, better known as Dun Ġwann, was born on the 26th February 1937. He was ordained on the 7th April 1962. Four years later, he was appointed Parish Priest of St. Julians Parish, and he retained this position for sixteen years. Dun Ġwann will always be remembered for – amongst other works – being the Parish Priest under whose guidance the building of the new Parish church was completed, and also for the many successes enjoyed by the St. Julians Choir which he had formed, and of which he was the choir master.
Dun Ġwann was always involved in the ongoing work of the Parish. Currently, he is the head of the Catholic Institute in Floriana – a centre for religious culture, education and recreation. The Catholic Institute is home to the Maltese Catholic Action, as well as to various other organisations : the National Catechetical Commission, the Institute of Pastoral Formation, the Cana Movement etc. This centre is also a lecture and conference centre and hosts other organisations such as the Stitch in Time Cross Stitch Club.
Dun Joshua Cortis – Viċi Kappillan
Viċi Kappillan
Dun Joshua Cortis twieled fit-23 ta’ Diċembru 1987. Huwa l-kbir fost żewġ aħwa subien. Attenda l-iskola primarja l-Ħamrun, imbagħad l-iskola sekondarja fis-seminarju r-Rabat. Wara li temm l-iskola sekondarja għamel sentejn il-Junior College, u wara daħal l-universita’ fejn gradwa b’Baċellerat fil-Kimika u l-Bioloġija. Għamel żmien jaħdem fil-laboratorju ta’ kumpanija privata, u qatta’ erba’ snin jaħdem fil-laboratorji tal-Universita’ ta’ Malta.
Daħal is-seminarju ftit wara li għalaq sitta u għoxrin sena. Bħala seminarist huwa kellu esperjenzi fil-parroċċi ta’ Ħal Għaxaq, Birżebbuġa u Santa Marija, Birkirkara, kif ukoll fil-parroċċa ta’ El Salvador, fiċ-Ċilì, fl-Amerka t’Isfel. Bħala djaknu serva fil-parroċċa ta’ San Ġiljan. Ġie ordnat saċerdot mill-Arċisqof Charles J Scicluna fit-8 ta’Mejju 2021.
Wara li ġie ordnat saċerdot, Fr Joshua baqa’ jservi San Ġiljan fejn qed jassisti lill-kappillan.

Fr Joshua Cortis was born on the 23rd December 1987. He is the elder of two brothers. Fr Joshua received his education at the primary school in Ħamrun and at the Seminary in Rabat. He then spent two years at Junior College, following which he entered the University of Malta, from where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry. Fr Joshua then spent some time working in the laboratory of a private company. He also worked in the laboratories of the University of Malta for four years.
Soon after celebrating his 26th birthday Fr Joshua entered the Archbishop’s Seminary. As a seminarian he gained experiences in the parishes of Ħal Għaxaq, Birżebbuġa and Santa Marija in Birkirkara. He also gained experience in the parish of El Salvador in Chile, in South America. As a deacon Fr Joshua served in St Julian’s Parish. On the 8th May 2021 Fr Joshua was ordained a priest by Archbishop Charles J Scicluna.
After being ordained, Fr Joshua continued his work in St Julian’s and is assisting the parish priest.
Dun Stefan Attard
Fr Stefan Attard twieled fit-28 t’April 1972. Studja fil-Kulleġġ De La Salle. Kompla l-istudji tiegħu fl-Universita’ ta’ Malta u s-Seminarju tal-Arċisqof. Ġie ordnat saċerdot fit-2 ta’ Lulju 1999 minn Mons Arċisqof Ġ. Merċieca. Huwa għamel sentejn esperjenza pastorali fil-Parroċċa tal-Ibraġ qabel ma ntbgħat jistudja l-Iskrittura fl-Istituto Pontificio Biblico f’Ruma. Huwa ħa d-Dottorat fl-Iskrittura Mqaddsa bi speċjaliżazzjoni fuq il-Ktieb tas-Salmi mill-Istess Universita’ f’Diċembru 2013. Huwa lecturer fl-Iskrittura fil- Fakulta’ tat-Teoloġija fl-Universita’ ta’ Malta sa minn Ottubru 2013. F’Settembru 2013 ntbgħat jagħmel esperjenza pastorali fil-Parroċċa ta San Ġiljan.

Fr. Stefan Attard was born on the 28th April 1972. He received his education at De La Salle college, and his tertiary education at the Archbishops Seminary and the University of Malta. On the 2nd July 1999 he was ordained by Archbishop Joseph Mercieca. Following his ordination, Fr. Stefan spent two years working in the Parish of Ibraġ before going on to further his Scriptural studies at the Pontifical Biblical Institute (Isitituto Potificio Biblico) in Rome. He received his Doctorate in the Holy Scriptures – specialising on the Book of the Psalms – in December 2013. In September 2013, on his return from Rome, Fr. Stefan was asked to work in the Parish of St. Julians, and in October 2013 Fr. Stefan was appointed lecturer at the University of Malta’s Faculty of Theology.
Dun Paul Mizzi
Kappillan - Parish Priest
Dun Paul Mizzi twieled fl-24 t’ Awissu 1967 fl-isptar Blue Sisters u trabba tas-Sliema – fil-parrocca tal-Madonna tas-Sacro Cuor fejn irċieva l-ewwel sagramenti u serva bħala abbati. Dun Paul huwa l-kbir minn żewġ aħwa u flimkien ma ħuħ, kellhom trobbija sempliċi u normali għall-aħħar.
Huwa ħa l-edukazzjoni primarja tiegħu fl-iskola tas-sorijiet ta’ St Joseph tas-Sliema. Wara li temm l-iskola Sekondarja, fil-Kulleġġ Santu Wistin fil-Pieta’, għamel kors ta’ sentejn fis-Secretarial School tan-New Lyceum (illum il-Junior College). Fl-1987 daħal jaħdem bħala skrivan f’ kumpanija privata li tispeċjalizza fir-reġistrażżjoni tal-vapuri taħt il-bandiera Maltija. Ftit snin wara huwa kien jokkupa kariga maniġerjali u fl-ahhar snin tal-ħidma tiegħu gewwa l-kumpanija kien ukoll wieħed mid-diretturi.
Ilu joqgħod San Ġiljan tmintax il-sena, wara li għamel madwar disa’ snin jgħix il-Pieta’; fil-parroċċa tal-Msida.
Beda, jħoss is-sejħa għas-saċerdozju meta kien żgħir, imma ħaseb li mhux kapaċi u ma jistħoqlux għaliha! Il-Mulej baqa’ jfakkru fis-sejħa, u fis-sena 2008 ħass mumenti qawwija. Wara dan, tkellem mas-seminarju u beda’ l-mixja ta dixxerniment. Parti minn din il-mixja kienet disa’ xhur ta’ esperjenza pastorali mal-mibki Fr Eric Overend ġewwa l-parroċċa taż-Żejtun fejn hemm għaraf aktar it-tifsira ta’ saċerdot djocesan.
Fil-festa tas-solennita’ ta’ San Pietru u San Pawl tal-2010 huwa ġie aċċettat biex jibda’ l-mixja fis-seminarju li kellha twasslu għas-saċerdozju. Fl-14 ta’ Ġunju 2013 ġie ordnat djaknu fil-Bażilika San Paolo Fuore le Mura f’Ruma, waqt li fl-1 ta’ Lulju 2014, ġie ordnat saċerdot mill-Arċisqof Pawlu Cremona O.P. fil-Kon Katidral ta’San Ġwann il-Belt Valletta. Il-ħidma pastorali tiegħu wettaqha fil-parroċċa ta’ San Ġiljan fejn serva għal tmien snin bħala viċi kappillan. Tul dawn l-aħħar seba’ snin kien ukoll religious counselor tal-Iskola Nazzjonali tal-Isport f’Pembroke.
Matul iż-żmien li huwa serva bħala viċi-kappillan u kien ta’ spalla għall-kappillan, Dun Claude Portelli, li tul dawn is-snin kien marbut bil-ħidma kontinwa fil-bini taċ-Ċentru Parrokkjali. Huwa kien ukoll imexxi l-gruppi tal-abbatini, connection teens u connections. Kien ukoll responsabli mit-tqarbin u l-pastorali tal-morda u l-ħidma pastorali fl-iskola primarja ta’ San Ġiljan.
Il-passatempi tiegħu huma il-qari, l-għawm u jagħmel eżerċizzji ta’ cardio l-gym.
Fl-8 ta’ Mejju 2022, l-Arċisqof Charles J Scicluna sejjaħlu biex ikun it-tlettax il-kappillan tal-parroċċa Ġiljaniża. Huwa beda’ l-ħidma ufficjali tiegħu bħala kappillan fit-23 ta’ Settembru 2022.

Fr Paul Mizzi was born on the 24th August 1967 at the Blue Sisters Hospital. He was raised in Sliema, in the parish of the Sacro Cuor, where he received his first sacraments and served as an altar server. Fr Paul and his younger brother had a typical childhood.
Fr Paul received his primary school education at St Joseph School Sliema. He received his secondary education at St. Augustine’s College in Pieta’. After completing secondary school Fr Paul attended a two year course at the Secretarial School of the New Lyceum (nowadays Junior College). In 1987 Fr Paul began working as a clerk for a private company that specialised in the registration of ships under the Maltese flag. A few years later Fr Paul held a managerial role within the company and toward the end of his career with the company he was also one of the company directors.
Fr Paul lived in Pieta’, in the parish of Msida, for around nine years before moving to St Julian’s, where he has lived for the past eighteen years.
Fr Paul began feeling the call to priesthood when he was young, but he doubted his ability to be a good priest. The Lord kept reminding Fr Paul about his calling, and in 2008 Fr Paul had strong spiritual experiences. Following these experiences, he contacted the seminary and began his journey towards discernment. As part of his journey Fr Paul spent nine months in the parish of Żejtun, where he gained pastoral experience and learned what it means to be a priest under the guidance of the late Fr Eric Overend.
It was in 2010 on the feast day of St Peter and St Paul that Fr Paul was accepted into the seminary as a seminarian. He was ordained a deacon in the Basilica San Paolo Fuori le Mura (Papal Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls) in Rome on the 14th June 2013. On the 1st of July 2014 Fr Paul was ordained a priest by Archbishop Emeritus Pawlu Cremona O.P. in St John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta. He carried out his pastoral work in the parish of St Julian’s, were he was vice Parish Priest for eight years. He has also been the religious counsellor at the National Sports School in Pembroke for the last seven years.
Through his work as vice Parish Priest, Fr Paul helped the parish priest, Fr Claude Portelli, in several projects, including the building of the Parish Centre. Fr Paul also led the altar servers, Connections Teens and Connections. In addition, he was responsible for administering Holy Communion to the sick. Fr Paul also carried out pastoral work at the St Julian’s primary school.
His hobbies include reading, swimming and doing cardio at the gym.
On the 8th of May 2022, Archbishop Charles J Scicluna announced that Fr Paul will the thirteenth parish priest of St Julian’s parish. Fr Paul officially began his work as parish priest on the 23rd September 2022.
